Australian solicitors lose hours starting drafts from scratch

Sole practitioners and small-firm solicitors carry a heavy drafting load — Federal Court forms, FCFCOA applications, ART matters, SOPA payment claims — without a junior or paralegal team to absorb the first pass.

Repetitive first drafts on every matter
A Family Court Initiating Application eats 90 minutes of pure typing before you even start thinking about the strategy. A Statement of Claim for misleading or deceptive conduct under s 18 ACL takes the same hour every single time. Old precedents are inconsistent and rarely reflect the 2024-2026 reforms.
📚
A tsunami of reform since 2024
The AAT became the ART on 14 October 2024. Closing Loopholes rewrote casual employment and independent contracting. The Family Law Act amendments changed the property and parenting frameworks. Privacy Tranche 1 introduced a statutory tort on 10 June 2025. Generic AI doesn't know any of this — it still cites the old AAT Act 1975.
💰
Six-minute units against you
Every 40 minutes spent typing a Statutory Demand under s 459E Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) is six and a half units the client either pays for or you write off. Drafting time is the single biggest leak in a sole practice — and the meter ticks against you on every matter.
🌏
State-by-state complexity
Conveyancing under the Real Property Act 1900 (NSW), a Sale of Land Act 1962 (VIC) s 32 Vendor Statement, an REIQ Houses Contract in QLD, a SOPA payment claim under the relevant state regime — every jurisdiction has its own forms, deadlines and elections. One firm, eight ways of getting it wrong.

Every skill follows a 5-stage protocol

Each of the 787 skills is built on the P.A.C.E.F methodology — a structured prompting framework, function by function, designed specifically for Australian legal drafting. Not a chat shortcut: an audit trail you can hand to a senior associate.

P
Problematisation
Identifies the parties, the jurisdiction, the material facts and the precise legal question — anchoring the AI to the specific Australian matter before any drafting starts.
01/05
A
Analysis
Computes, assesses and maps risks: quantum, limitation periods, jurisdictional gateways, available remedies and the tactical position of each party.
02/05
C
Compliance
Cites the controlling authority: FLA 1975, Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), Fair Work Act 2009, NTA 1993, Privacy Act 1988 and the 13 APPs, state Torrens and SOPA legislation — plus the ASCR rules engaged.
03/05
E
Execution
Delivers the full draft — Federal Court Form, FCFCOA application, Statement of Claim, BFA, payment claim — in the correct Australian legal format, ready for solicitor review.
04/05
F
Finalisation
Closes with a verification checklist, next steps with deadlines and responsible parties, and a plain-English summary for the client.

Frequently asked questions

No. LegalSkills AU is a drafting tool — it does not constitute legal practice in any jurisdiction. Where a skill is jurisdiction-sensitive (conveyancing, criminal procedure, SOPA, workers' compensation), the skill asks you to confirm the state or territory and then aligns the draft accordingly. Your own practising certificate, issued by the relevant Law Society or Legal Services Commission, governs which matters you may actually run.
Yes. The library includes Federal Court Forms (Form 16, Form 17, etc.), FCFCOA Initiating Applications and Responses, Form 13 Financial Statements, Notices of Risk under Pt VII, ART Statements of Facts and Contentions under Practice Direction 3 (post-October 2024), and ADJR and s 75(v) High Court applications. Native Title applications use Form 1 under the NTA 1993.
Honestly: no — and we won't pretend otherwise. AI skills are a drafting tool, not a CPD activity. What they do is free up the time you used to spend on first drafts, which you can then redirect to genuine CPD: substantive law, ethics (ASCR), practice management and professional skills. The Law Society of NSW, LIV, QLS and equivalents all require ten CPD units per year from accredited providers; LegalSkills AU complements that, it doesn't replace it.
Generic legal AI tools are trained mostly on US and UK material and routinely cite the wrong statute when handling Australian matters — for example, citing the AAT Act 1975 (repealed) or the Companies Act 2006 (UK) for an Australian company law question. Every LegalSkills AU skill is built on the P.A.C.E.F framework and anchored to the correct Australian source: FLA 1975 (Cth), Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), NTA 1993 (Cth), Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the relevant state Torrens Act, the relevant state SOPA, and so on. Each skill ends with a Finalisation checklist of points to verify.
Seven-day refund, no questions asked. Email leonardo@rsabr.adv.br within seven days of purchase with your Stripe receipt and we will refund in AUD via Stripe. We would rather a clean refund than an unhappy solicitor.
Yes. Lifetime access includes future updates at no extra cost. The 2025-2026 update cycle already covers: the AAT-to-ART transition (14/10/2024), the Family Law Amendment Acts 2023 and 2024, the Closing Loopholes reforms (right to disconnect, casual conversion, wage theft criminalisation from 01/01/2025), Privacy Act Tranche 1 (10/06/2025 — statutory tort), the QLD Property Law Act 2023 (01/08/2025), AML/CTF Tranche 2 affecting solicitors (01/07/2026), the EPBC Reform Acts 2025 and the new federal EPA, and mandatory climate disclosure phase-in for large entities.
Yes. LegalSkills AU is built to be compliant with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We collect the minimum personal information necessary (name, email, optional mobile) to deliver your account, send your magic link and notify you of legislative updates. We do not sell or rent your data. You may request access (APP 12) or correction (APP 13) at any time via leonardo@rsabr.adv.br.
The licence is a single-solicitor licence — one Australian legal practitioner per purchase. If you would like to roll the library out across a team of two or more solicitors, email leonardo@rsabr.adv.br for firm-licence pricing. Sharing the magic link with unlicensed users is a breach of the terms and may result in revocation without refund.
No subscription is required to use LegalSkills AU itself — but you do need an AI assistant to paste the skills into. The free tiers of Claude (Anthropic) and ChatGPT (OpenAI) both work. For heavier drafting we recommend the paid tier of either (Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus), each around AUD $30/month, which gives you longer context windows and the latest model. Gemini and Microsoft Copilot also work. No API key, no integration, no plugin — if you can paste text, you can use the skills.
No. LegalSkills AU is a professional drafting tool for qualified Australian legal practitioners. Each skill produces an AI-generated first draft for review — it does not constitute legal advice and it does not replace your independent professional judgment. The responsible solicitor retains their obligations under the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules (ASCR) and the Legal Profession Uniform Law to verify every output against current law, applicable court rules and the specific facts of the matter before use.
